Recalibrating at Work 2025
March 19, 2026
The start of a new year is a great time to hit refresh and set your sights on what you want to achieve at work.
Career Coach, Anne Hutton, offers these five key questions to help you recalibrate, reflect, and plan for success in the months ahead.
- What Worked for Me Last Year? What’s Not Working?
Reflecting on the past year can provide valuable insights. Think about your communication style: what worked in how you connected with colleagues, and what didn’t? Understanding these dynamics can help you build on your strengths while addressing areas for improvement. - What are new ways and approaches to my work that would make a difference?
Innovation often comes from shaking things up, so ask yourself how you can approach your work differently this year. Are there new communication tools that could enhance collaboration? What about incorporating AI to streamline tasks? - What are the possibilities for my role this year?
Take a moment to dream a little. What’s possible for your role in the coming year? Consider your aspirations: would you like to take on more responsibility, develop new skills, or enhance your leadership capabilities? Think about opportunities for collaboration and professional growth. Imagining the possibilities opens you up to fresh goals and renewed purpose, igniting your passion for the work ahead. - Which of my strengths can I dial up this year?
Your strengths are your greatest assets. Which ones can you amplify this year to help you reach your goals? Perhaps it’s your ability to foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, or adapt to new technologies. Leaning into your strengths can make the path to success feel more natural and enjoyable. - What Do I Need to Do More or Less of for My Happiness and Wellbeing?
Finally, recalibrating is not just about work- it’s about maintaining balance and wellbeing. Reflect on your daily habits and routines: what do you need to do more of? For instance – do you need to take more breaks? Practice mindfulness? Engage in creative pursuits? Spend more time with loved ones?
